Shopping. Beijing is a great place for shopping, with many shops open 365 days a year. Below are the main shopping areas and markets. When you arrive here we can give you a map showing the locations. If you would like to find something specific, please email us or ask at reception when you arrive. |

Wangfujing. Beijing's famous pedestrianised shopping street. You can find brand name shops and large shopping centers. If you're looking for books, try the Foreign Languages Bookstore. In the evening, try some street snacks at the Donghuamen Night Food Market (at the top of Wangfujing street). Xidan. This area's market-bulldings are famous for cheap chinese clothing/footwear/accessories. There are also some normal shopping centers and some mobile phone shops. The Village. This is Beijing's newest shopping area, located at the Sanlitun bar street area. There's lots of modern architecture and the latest sportswear/fashion shops. There is also a large Apple store. Just west of the Village is the Ya Shou market, similar to the Silk Market (below) |
Silk Market. Beijing's most famous shopping market. You can find lots of western brand clothing, footwear, accessories, and some electronic goods. There is also a silk/fabric floor with tailors. The Silk Market receives bus-loads of tourists everyday, so prices start high and you will need to barter the price down a lot. Pearl Market. Just opposite the east gate of the Temple of Heaven. A large selection of pearls and jewelry, along with western-brand clothing and footwear. Behind the Pearl Market is another toy market. Antiques Dirt Market. An outdoor market, with lots of interesting antiques and artwork/posters. It is best to go on the weekend. Guanyuan Market. This market sells flowers, fish, birds, bugs and other animals. Zhongguancun Computer Market. Big buildings full of computers, cameras, gadgets and accessories... |
