Leo Hostel “Secret” Great Wall.

Leo Hostel is the only hostel to offer this exclusive tour.

This is a completely un-restored and undiscovered part of the Great Wall, so you will see the Wall in its most natural form. There are no other tourists, no tickets or cable cars, and definitely no sellers chasing after you! The Great Wall is one of the great wonders of the world, and you will be the only ones there to enjoy it in peace.

As well as climbing the wall, you will have the chance to explore the local scenery. And at the end of the tour, you will have the chance to sample a traditional village meal at a local family home.

Cost: 220rmb per person, including transport, a local guide, and a traditional village meal  (overnight tour available in Summer - including meal, snacks and camping on the wall itself)

Time: 7.30am leave, 5pm arrive back at the hostel. 3 hours to the wall. 3 hours on the wall before return. (*these times are approximate only)                             (overnight tour - leave in the afternoon, arrive back at the hostel around mid-day the next day)

Information: This is quite an adventurous tour, involving quite a lot of walking/climbing, going both on and off the Wall. Some parts are overgrown and/or crumbling away, and so it is *only suitable for fit, able-bodied people*, and you may like to wear long trousers to protect yourself from the bushes. Remember: wear strong footwear (no sandals) and sun protection, and take lots of water!

 

Mutianyu Great Wall

If you want an easier climb, the beautiful Mutianyu Wall is for you. It is closer to Beijing than most other parts of the wall, with both restored and un-restored sections.

Cost: 260rmb per person, including transport & tickets

Time*: 7.30am leave, 5pm arrive back at the hostel. 2-3 hours to the wall. 3 hours on the wall before return. (*these times are approximate only)

Information: Cable car and toboggan slide available, tickets not included. Remember: wear strong footwear and sun protection, and take lots of water!

 

Long Qing Xia Nature Gorge (March-October)

This gorge is famously known as the Guilin/Yangshuo of North China. Take a boat-ride through the beautiful gorge and climb around in the hills, before heading to a local restaurant for a delicious lunch :)

Cost: 380rmb per person, including transport, admission, boat ticket & lunch.

Time*: 7.30am leave, 7pm arrive back at the hostel. 2-3 hours to the gorge. 3 hours at the gorge before lunch at 2pm then return. (*these times are approximate only)

Information: Remember: wear strong footwear and sun protection, and take lots of water! Bungee jumping (50 meters above the water) is also available for 150rmb per person. Boat rental is possible and there are also other sites, like mountain caves (40rmb) and temples.

 

Beijing Opera

Cost: 180rmb per person, including transport and tickets.

Time: 6.30pm every night. Show lasts 50 minutes to 1 hour.
